Drumaness Mills 1
Islandmagee 2
DRUMANESS dropped back into the Premier Section's bottom two after
this disappointing home defeat.
The Mills made all the early running and a good run and cross from
Gavin McEvoy almost resulted in an own goal. Donal Kennedy then
found himself in the clear, but he elected to shoot early and his
effort flew over the bar.
A Kennedy flick then fell perfectly for Paul Burns, but he shot
tamely at the goalkeeper. A free kick into the box then sat up
nicely for John Connolly, but he could only manage a fresh air shot
when he really should have scored.
Gary Murdock then gave Drumaness the lead when he drilled the ball
home after great approach play from the impressive Burns.
Islandmagee hit back strongly and they drew level when their number
10 outjumped Brendan Ward to head past Ryan Campbell.
Things went from bad to worse for the Mills before the break when
Islandmagee took a 2-1 lead after a good cross from the right.
Islandmagee were then reduced to 10 men when their number 7 was red
carded, but the Mills were unable to make their numerical advantage
pay.
Ten minutes after the break Paul Walsh shot over, but this was to be
their last chance for another 15 minutes when the same player had a
shot cleared off the line.
With the 90 minutes up, a Neil Gelston corner was cleared to
Kennedy, but his shot crashed off the crossbar to safety.
