Lurgan Town Boys 2
Drumaness Mills 5
DRUMANESS Mills secured a place in the second round of the WKD
Intermediate Cup with a convincing away win against Lurgan Town Boys
— but they had to come from 2-0 down.
Both sides started positively and went close to scoring in the
opening stages, but goals early on were hard to find. All that
changed in the 25th minute when Owen Wright was dispossessed in a
bad position and the home striker fired the ball past Ryan Campbell.
Ten minutes later the Mills went close to equalising after a good
run and shot from John Connolly, but his effort could only find the
side netting.
Disaster then hit the Mills just before the break when they were
again caught out in defence and their forward was left with a simple
tap in to make it 2-0.
Drumaness were thrown a lifeline 10 minutes after the break when the
Lurgan centre half headed a Neil Gelston corner into his own net and
Donal Bell’s side never looked back after this and they scored four
goals in the last 15 minutes.
With 75 minutes gone Donal Kennedy headed in the equaliser and five
minutes later Kennedy gave Drumaness the lead after he was put
through by Hughes.
Two minutes later Kennedy was brought down in the box and Paul Walsh
converted the penalty to make it 4-2. Kennedy then crossed for
Hughes to make it 5-2 in the 85th minute.
